Position

 

            Postdoctoral Fellow in Child & Adolescent Psychology

 

 

Description of Position

 

The Postdoctoral Fellowship is a 40 hour, 52 week clinical position designed to provide psychological assessment and treatment services to children and their families in an outpatient mental health facility.

 

 

Duration of Employment

 

The position begins 7/01/07 and ends 6/30/08

 

 

Training Opportunities

 

Opportunities during postdoctoral fellowship may include:

                       

1)      Increasing diagnostic assessment and psychological testing skills in working with children, preschool through adolescence, covering a wide spectrum of DSM-IV diagnoses.

2)      Increasing assessment skills related to the differential diagnosis of ADHD in children and adolescents.

3)      Providing clinical treatment with a possible subspecialization targeted at a specific clinical population (e.g., based on diagnostic category, age, etc.).

4)      Serving as adjunct faculty in teaching/training of psychology interns and agency staff in selected content areas (based on areas of proficiency and knowledge).

5)      Participating on PsychComm (the committee of Psychologists at Child & Adolescent Service Center) for developing and implementing policy on delivery of psychological services within the agency.

6)      Providing group supervision/case consultation to psychology interns.

7)      Receiving necessary supervision to fulfill licensure requirements.

 

 

Expectations

 

            1)   Comply with all CASC requirements for full-time employment.

2)   Provide diagnostic assessment/psychological testing services to children and adolescents with varied diagnostic presentations (e.g., ADHD Clinic, Psych Services).

3)   Be fluent in the administration and interpretation of psychological tests as   determined by agency protocols and supervisory directives.

4)   Maintain a clinical caseload.  Focus of caseload may be influenced by individual interests and/or agency needs.

5)   It is expected that interested applicants will have completed their doctoral degree

      in clinical, counseling or school psychology before beginning their postdoctoral

      training or submit a letter from their Director of graduate studies verifying the

      completion of all degree requirements pending institution graduation ceremony.

 

 

Fellowship Stipend & Benefits

 

Stipend                                    $31,900 (USD)

Hours:                         40 hours/week including one evening (12 months)

Vacation:                     10 paid vacation days

Holidays:                     8 paid holidays

Personal Time:                        2 paid personal days

Sick Leave:                  8 sick leave days

Insurances:                  Health and vision insurances are optional; dental and life insurance

Other:                          Professional development flextime. Optional employee sponsored

 benefits available

Professional Liability   Each Fellow is insured for up to $1,000,000

 

 

To apply for a Fellowship position, an applicant must submit the following:

 

1. A vita of educational and professional activities;

2. Three letters of recommendation:

     a. Two from supervisors of your therapy and/or assessment experience;
     b. One from an academic advisor;

3. A cover letter and a professional statement, including your reasons for seeking a

    child/adolescent psychology fellowship;

4. A graduate transcript of all graduate level coursework;

5. A list of psychological tests administered during graduate program or work experiences.

6. A copy of a written work sample, preferable a recently completed psychological report

    (information submitted must be HIPPA compliant). 

 

Deadline for receipt of application materials is January 31st of the Fellowship year.  Interviews with selected candidates will be arranged after materials are reviewed by the faculty.  Candidates are notified by phone or e-mail.  On site interviews are recommended and preferred.  Candidates are interviewed by multiple Psychology Staff members; candidates may also meet with current interns and Fellows; follow up phone calls are permitted for informational purposes only.  The July 1st start date may be modified to meet the needs of the Fellow and/or agency in a particular year.
